There are rules governing outdoor burning in Texas. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has printed a broacher, which explains the rules and laws governing Outdoor Burning. In an effort to better serve you, the Winnie-Stowell Volunteer Fire Department has added the TCEQ broacher on Outdoor Burning under their File Library. To learn more about Outdoor Burning in Texas click on the FILE LIBRARY button on the left and then click on Outdoor Burning in Texas.
Most Outdoor Burning Violations are handled by the TCEQ. TCEQ can issue citations for OUTDOOR BURNING VIOLAIONS when they receive reports of violations, so before you burn check out the rules and laws governing outdoor burning. Currently the Winnie-Stowell Volunteer Fire Department receives the initial report and conducts the initial investigation in reference to outdoor burning complaints. If the department believes that the outdoor burning is being conducted in violation of State Law they will report the incident to TCEQ.
The Winnie-Stowell Volunteer Fire Departments has a responsibility to protect Life and Property from Fire Loss. Many lives are lost and millions of dollars in property are destroyed each year due to fire. All fire departments share the responsibility to protect Life and Property from Fire Loss through Prevention and Inspection programs. The reporting of violations and issuing of citations is part of an active Fire Prevention program that helps to reduce Life and Property Loss due to Fire.
The Winnie-Stowell Volunteer Fire Department works with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Department, Texas State Fire Marshals Office, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to insure the safety of those we serve.
